People used to speak the name Boritsi with a kind of quiet respect in those dim, candlelit rooms of Borca. They started out as merchants, really, and only later became nobles. They dealt in silks and spices, along with all sorts of secrets that people traded under the table. Their money never piled up as high as the [[von Zarovich]] family's did. Still, everyone knew them for their sharp wits and that smooth way they had with people.
Under all that shiny surface, though, there was something darker going on with the Boritsi line. Way back, one of their ancestors got involved with a vampire lord in a way that changed everything. That led to the Dhampir curse passing down through the family. The heirs ended up neither completely human nor fully like the undead. They had this pale skin, those characteristics, and an aura around them that made folks both drawn in and a little scared at the same time.
For generations, the Boritsi men and women held onto their noble status even while their lands fell apart around them. They kept throwing these banquets in old, chilly houses where the wine tasted weak and the chandeliers sagged under layers of dust. They still acted like true aristocrats, though. They hid their lack of cash behind a touch of grace. They built their power through quiet talks instead of throwing money around.
This all happened during a time when their luck was pretty much running out. That is when Lord Gregor Boritsi married a woman who turned heads with her looks, even if she did not bring much wealth to the family. Their marriage had nothing to do with riches. It came from a shared drive to bring back some shine to the family's name.
Things got still in the house over the next few years. The servants left one by one until hardly any remained. They closed off rooms that no one used anymore. The gardens turned into tangled messes of weeds. But inside the dark hallways of the manor, something like excitement started to build. After all that time with no news, the Boritsi family finally had a baby to carry on the line.
She was a daughter, born from that noble stock mixed with the Dhampir side. Her skin looked as white as light from the moon. Her eyes caught the light in a way that reminded you of evening shadows. In her, the family saw both their chance at a better future and the weight of their old troubles. They named her Ambroisa. Ambrosia Boritsi
